How the countdown works
The calculator takes your birth date, applies this year's date to it, and checks whether that has already passed. If it has, it counts to next year's instead. Leap years are handled automatically.
A birthday on 29 February only occurs in leap years. Most systems, including this one, treat 1 March as the effective date in other years.
Which day will it fall on?
A given date moves forward by one weekday each year, and by two across a leap year. So a birthday on Monday this year falls on Tuesday next year, unless a 29 February sits between, in which case it jumps to Wednesday.
Because of this pattern, your birthday returns to the same weekday roughly every 5, 6 or 11 years. Over any 28-year span the cycle repeats exactly.
